19 Mar 2017 : Spot-on Runcorn Linnets Ladies await Challenge Cup final opponents

Runcorn Linnets Ladies must wait a week to learn who they will face in the final of the Cheshire Women's League Challenge Cup.

While Linnets Ladies were scoring a dramatic penalty shootout victory over Witton Albion Women, the other semi-final between Wallasey Wanderers Ladies and Crewe Alexandra Ladies was postponed. It has been rescheduled for next Sunday.

John Pickering's team, aiming to repeat last season's triumph in the same competition, had fallen behind in the 87th minute but showed strength of character to pull level in the 90th. There was no further scoring in extra-time but Linnets won 4-3 on penalties.

Striker Megan Pickering achieved a major landmark in her Runcorn Linnets career with her 100th goal for the club,

Well done to Megan and all the Linnets Ladies management and players on reaching the final.
