13 Jun 2019 : Zac Aley coming back again for 2019-20 campaign

One of the most pleasing moments at Runcorn Linnets last season came when Zac Aley made his long-awaited return after injury so happily the player is also coming back to the club for 2019-20.

Zac had missed all but the first four games of our title-winning NWCL campaign in 2017-18 so it was fantastic to have the former Blackburn Rovers professional back in the starting line-up.

After coming on as a substitute in October's crushing 6-1 win at Colne, he spent the rest of the season putting a 14-month injury nightmare behind him.

It obviously took time for Zac to get back up to full throttle yet he provided another highlight of the season with his explosive finish in the Cheshire Senior Cup home tie against Vauxhall Motors in November - Linnets, coincidentally, again triumphing 6-1.

Able to play in any position on the left, Zac brings versatility as well as balance plus strength, pace and experience to boot.

He is also one of the most effervescent characters around the club - his spirit and enthusiasm rubbing off on others.

Although for Zac there was an element of rehabilitation about last season, with regular football now behind him and a full pre-season to come, fans will look forward to seeing him at his very sharpest in the forthcoming campaign.

Manager Michael Ellison said: "It's great news for the club that Zac has decided to commit to another year.

"I know he's been disappointed with the amount of games he's been able to play last season because of his injury problems but that was always going to be the case after so long out.

"I think it's clear for everyone to see the quality he possesses in a number of positions and he's a massive character in the dressing room.

"After a good pre-season behind I'm sure we will get to see the best of him this season. To say I'm delighted to have him back is an understatement."
