19 Mar 2019 : Millbank Linnets Stadium makes the grade but hard work for next level starts here

The EVO-STIK League Ground Grading committee paid a visit today on completion of works needed for us to continue playing at Step 4 in the National League System beyond this season.

We are pleased to report we have been awarded the D Grade required for membership of the EVO-STIK League Division One West in 2019-20.

But should we win promotion at the end of this season, it would result in a lot of work and extra expense in bringing the stadium up to standard for the EVO-STIK League Premier Division.

We would need to among other things significantly increase covered accommodation and seating capacity and that would involve major investment for a fans-owned club with excellent support and superb sponsors but no major backer.

If we go up this time, the work would have to be completed by the end of March 2020.

Inevitably, money well into five figures would need to be raised by ourselves even with possible match funding from the football ground improvement agencies.

As we enter the final stretch of the 2018-19 promotion race, we would be grateful for any assistance from individuals and companies in pulling the whole project together.

We'll need help with costing and planning, technical expertise, sourcing materials and sponsorship.

We are extremely grateful to those who have overseen and carried out the work ahead of today's grading, especially supporter/volunteer Alan Spendlove (Spenny) and Trust Board member, Paul Tandy.

As directed by the ground graders on an earlier visit, they have laid a new pathway to improve access to the turnstile in the pitch perimeter fence (now incorporated into the fencing just past the former main gates into the stadium on the old clubhouse walkway).

The improvements, also involving the infilling of a pitchside gate and minor adjustments to the medical room off in the dressing room corridor, were carried out successfully in unfavourable weather.

So thank you Spenny and Paul. We take our hats off to you, guys!
