First midweek mission to regular Saturday haunt

Armed with four points from their last two games but disappointed not to have turned pressure Into victory in Saturday's 1-1 home draw against Chasetown, Linnets embark on a run of three away matches in eight days.

For starters is a first midweek excursion to Clitheroe, all seven previous Runcorn visits having been on Saturdays.

Still striving for a winning consistency as they complete September's fixtures, Linnets have lost their last two at Shawbridge and are without a victory on the Lancashire ground in the three most recent attempts.

Clitheroe lie seventh in Pitching In Northern Premier League West with 15 points from seven games.

A victory by two goals or more would take Linnets, currently in 11th with 12 points from nine games, above their hosts in the table.

There is still no continuity in selection for Michael Ellison, who reported two defensive casualties after the weekend's game.

But Sean Miler's return for what should be an extended run, with injury and unavailability hopefully behind him, means creativity in the final third should improve.
