Runcorn Linnets have received a very generous,  poignant and welcome contribution towards our new 3G Pitch Fund.

£1,100 was handed to the club in memory of long-time supporter Harold Hearn, who passed away in June.

The money was from donations received at Harold's funeral and through a Just Giving page launched by his daughter Rachel Matthews.

She said at the time: "Dad was football fan for all his life and first started watching Runcorn FC as a small boy.

"For over 80 years he followed Runcorn, through highs and lows. We hope that this can be his final gift to the club he loved."

Our thanks go to Rachel and her brother, Ralph Hearn who handed over a cheque to club chairman Peter Cartledge as their dad's legacy.

We are also grateful to Harold's wife Elizabeth and other close family in the presentation party.

They included Harold's son-in-law Robbie, daughter-in-law Angela and his grandson Liam.

This is a wonderful gesture, which is very much appreciated and will greatly help our fundraising effort towards this vital facility.

Harold's family wish to thank all those who made donations after Harold's passing, enabling them to hand over such a substantial sum.
