Ladies are pipped at the post by Wirral visitors

Runcorn Linnets Ladies suffered a second home defeat of the North West Regional Women's League season yesterday as Wirral Phoenix scored in stoppage time to run out 4-3 winners in Division One South.

Rising star Liv Brannigan, pictured above left, netted twice while Chelsea Gillies, above right, was also on target for Linnets but Rebecca Beesley settled the issue in the first added minute.

Jessica Smylie, Shaney Bond and Hannah Dixon were the other visiting scorers as Phoenix moved up to fourth - overtaking Linnets, who drop one place to sixth.

The Ladies have no fixture next weekend.
