Ladies team secretary/treasurer Craig Ashley has been co-opted on to the Trust Board of Runcorn Linnets.

Board members felt it was important to re-establish representation for the Ladies section at director level.

This had been missing since the departures from the club of John Pickering and James Sidwell.

Craig will be the official link between the club's North West Women's Regional League team and the Board while helping the Ladies to play a bigger operational role in the club.

Chairman Peter Cartledge said: "This is an important appointment and will ensure that the Ladies team is again directly involved in the running of the club.

"It comes at a time when we are looking to expand opportunities for aspiring female players with the ultimate aim of establishing an Under 21s side in support of the Ladies first team - something we already have for the men."

The chairman added: "The co-option of Nick Woods, as the junior representative on the Trust Board was renewed at its January meeting.

"Kelly Jones, having been elected as a director in December, provides an input for the men's Under 21s team as its secretary.

"Craig's appointment as a director is an extension of his involvement and means that all sections of the club again have a voice on the Trust Board."
