Eve-of-season capture Mathew Whittingham is the latest young player through the dressing room door at APEC Taxis Stadium.
He brings an impressive CV after representing some of of England's most famous clubs.
The 21-year-old attacking midfielder, who hails from St Helens, started at Liverpool before a move to Manchester City saw him develop into one of their top young prospects.
Eight years with the Citizens culminated in an Under 18s Premier League winner's medal with seven goals and 11 assists in 17 appearances.
Showing up well in his favoured No.8 and No.10 positions, left-footed Matty proved his versatility by also playing in the holding position and even at left-back.
He totalled 35 outings and nine goals for the Etihad club before switching to Wolverhampton Wanderers in September 2023.
A place awaited in the Old Gold's Premier League 2 squad. Matty's 41 appearances for the U21s brought him three goals and two assists.
Matty trained with the first team and was a substitute for the FA Premier League match against Arsenal in December 2023.
