Oh brother! New Linnets signing Alex Perry keeps it in the family

We are pleased to welcome former WIgan Athletic and Scunthorpe United midfielder Alex Perry into the Linnets family.

Alex, 25, is the brother of Jacques Welsh, who returned to the club earlier in pre-season.

A product of the Bolton Wanderers Academy, Alex appeared for the Trotters against Everton U23s in the Group Stage of the Football League Trophy in August 2016.

In October 2016, he spent a month on loan with Sutton Coldfield Town in the Northern Premier League Premier Division.

On leaving Bolton, which is also one of Jacques's former clubs, Alex moved to Wigan Athletic. He initially joined the Development Squad before breaking into their League One side in 2020-21, making 21 appearances.

Alex played five times for Scunthorpe United in League Two in 2021-22 and earlier this year had six games for NPL Premier outfit Hyde United.
