Pair leave Linnets for higher ground

Matty Whittingham, left, has accepted an offer from Marine while Scott Holding is heading to Leek Town.

Runcorn Linnets can this evening confirm the departures of two players who joined us this season and are both leaving for clubs higher in the pyramid.

Former Manchester City U18 and Wolves U21s starlet Matty Whittingham has agreed a move to Marine.

The Enterprise National League North club last week served seven days' notice of approach for the promising young midfielder.

Experienced central defender Scott Holding, meanwhile, has accepted an offer from Leek Town of the Pitching In Northern Premier League Premier Division.

We are disappointed to see them leave but respect and understand their decisions.

We thank both for efforts and wish them well.
