Runcorn Linnets are shocked and saddened to have received news of the death of our former manager Dave Wild. Dave was appointed as our seventh boss in summer 2022 and took charge of 47 games with a record of W27 D7 L13. His last match as boss was in March 2023. Prior to arriving at Linnets. Dave had managed at Mossley and he subsequently had a spell at Ossett United. Our sympathy and condolences go to Dave's family and friends at this distressing time.

Legendary former Runcorn AFC player and manager Barry Whitbread passed away on Wednesday at the age of 77, leaving behind so many memories of his exploits at Canal Street. Barry, front row third from left, with his Runcorn team. Barry was a gifted centre forward who who represented England at non-league international level (with six appearances and two goals) and played a major role in the Linnets' successes in the 1970s. Our first team heads back to Sheffield this weekend for a rare Sunday outing. The trip to Hallam will be our 985th match but only the fifth to be played on the Sabbath. Our last Sunday appearance was on November 2nd 2014 when we lost 4-1 at Shaw Lane Aquaforce in the FA Cup (our 434th game). The first had been in match 87 on Sunday August 17th 2008, when we defeated Rossington Main 3-2 in the FA Cup, this being the first of two Sunday fixtures at our initial home Wincham Park
