Runcorn Linnets are delighted to confirm the appointment of skipper Jacques Welsh as player-manager until the end of the season.

Vice-captain Peter Wylie is named as assistant player-manager on a similar basis.

Jacques and Pete have between them chalked up 477 Linnets appearances and are well respected within the club, the dressing room and among the fans.

In the fortnight they had been in interim charge, the pair have lifted the mood around the club and got the best out of the squad, despite it still being affected by injuries.

Both were very keen to take on their new roles on a more permanent basis and we have no hesitation in asking them to continue.

We wish them both all the very best and are sure that both will have the full backing of supporters as has already been the case over the last four games.

Chairman Peter Cartledge said: "In that time we have seen a significant improvement in the form and performances of the team and a general uplift in morale in and around the club.

"We believe this is the right move. It's one that many fans have already been asking for and we have no doubt that Jacques and Pete will have 100% backing going forward."
