Linnets Juniors go with the Merseyflow as Team Spirit competition winners

ree

Players from Runcorn Linnes Under 11s Orange and Green didn't have to spell it out just how happy they are to have won a competition for junior sports teams in Halton.

But that's exactly what they did in a series of photos making up the name of the organisers Merseyflow.

Our team, managed by Phil Wilkinson and James Lawton-Hill, were among five successful entrants in the annual Team Spirit competition promoted by the toll company for the Mersey Gateway bridge linking Runcorn with Widnes.

The competition, open to local teams up to U14s, offered the chance to win one of five junior sports team kits worth up to £1,000 each.

After a fantastic response and inspiring entries from sports including hockey, football, netball, morris dancing and boxing, judges chose the five teams, which best demonstrated outstanding teamwork.

The winning teams were:

  • ABC Amateur Boxing Club (Little Hitters)

  • The Next Step Dance Academy

  • Runcorn Linnets FC Green/Orange U11s FC

  • Nellie's Vikingettes Netball Team

  • Pexhill FC Jaguars U14s

This is the fifth year for the competition. The aim is to support local clubs, which enable young people to access sport to improve their physical and mental wellbeing.

Helen Williams, marketing manager at Merseyflow, said: “We are proud to keep supporting young people in Halton through our Team Spirit competition.

"Each year, we are inspired by the enthusiasm, teamwork, and dedication shown by local junior sports clubs, and this year’s entries were outstanding.

“We know junior sports teams often rely on donations for expenses and equipment. We're proud to support and celebrate their efforts to help kids stay active and inspired.”
