Manager Billy Paynter has bolstered his Runcorn Linnets squad with the signing of teenage midfielder Eric Byrne from 1874 Northwich.
Merseyside-based and formerly part of the Academy at Tranmere Rovers, Eric featured in the Prenton Park club's 2022-23 FA Youth Cup campaign.
He also played for their Under 19s in the National Youth League's North West Premier Division.
On switching to 1874 for this season, the 17-year-old has shown maturity beyond his years and impressed with his work rate.
Eric wasn't in the '74 team which visited APEC Taxis Stadium earlier in the campaign but made eleven appearances for the Greens, scoring one goal.
He'd had his first taste of senior football at Runcorn Town, signing at the back end of last season.
Making his debut at FC St Helens in March 2023, Eric completed eight appeearances with six starts and one goal before successfully stepping up two divisions at the end of the campaign.
