Mossley's Jack Grundy signs on the dotted line at Linnets

Antony Kay has begun the process of bringing in defensive reinforcements by signing Jack Grundy from Mossley.

With the manager himself having retired from playing, Sean O'Mahony leaving for Australia and Alex Jones being released, the centre back positions are high on Kaysey's priority list when it comes to recruitment.

Peter Wylie is, of course, able to operate in all positions across the back line but spent much of last season at full-back.

Newcomer Grundy, 22, initially joined Mossley in December 2019 on work experience loan from Oldham Athletic, where he had captained their Under 18s Academy team.

He became a fully-fledged member of the Seel Park playing staff the following summer.

At the turn of the 2023-24 season, Jack cemented his place as a cornerstone of Mossley's rearguard by making his 100th appearance.

The New Year's Day game against Trafford saw him not only reach the milestone but also score the second of his two campaign goals.

In all, Jack played 34 times for the Lilywhites last season.

He also has a goal against Linnets to his credit, after scoring the first of Mossley's four without reply in our October 2021 home league defeat.
