Mwiya Malumo arrives from Atherton Collieries

We offer a warm if slightly belated welcome to striker Mwiya Malumo, our new signing who made his debut off the bench in last night's defeat at one of his former clubs, Nantwich Town.

Mwiya holds dual nationality, being a citizen of Great Britain and Zambia, and has represented the African nation at youth level.

He has signed for Linnets from Pitching In NPL Premier Division club Atherton Collieries, who he joined in the summer after impressing in pre-season trials - scoring a hat-trick against Padiham.

Immediately before arriving at Colls, where five of his 12 appearances were starts, Mwiya had been at Farsley Celtic, featuting mostly in their Under 23s.

But he began his career as an Academy player with Wigan Athletic and then Oldham Athletic.

Mwiya, who will celebrate his 24th birthday later this month, has also served Ramsbottom Uhited, FC United of Manchester, Skelmersdale Uhited, Radcliffe and Irlam.
