Welcome

Welcome to the official website of Runcorn Linnets FC.

We are a registered society under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014 and were formed in the 2006 off-season by the fans of the now defunct Runcorn FC (which was playing under the name "Runcorn FC Halton" at the time). Although when we formed we were technically a "new" club, the Linnets were given special dispensation by the FA to be treated as a reformed version of Runcorn FC - the special dispensation was necessary as the old club had simply become dormant, choosing not to field a team, as opposed to ceasing to exist as a legal entity.

We currently play in the North West Counties Football League, and were awarded Charter Standard in October 2011.

Road works and car parking warnings for Silsden trip

Linnets fans driving up to Silsden AFC for Saturday's game are reminded to allow a little more travelling time than normal due to continuing road works on the M65.

Our weekend hosts have also asked us to warn of parking restrictions outside their ground, which is on the A6034 Keighley Road.

A notice on the NWCL website in July advised: "Anyone travelling to games at Colne, Nelson, Barnoldswick Town or Silsden should be aware that road works on the M65 are set to cause 'long delays' until December.

"The Lancashire Telegraph reports that a 3.5 mile section of the motorway will be affected between junction 10 at Gannow, Burnley, and junction 12 at Brierfield, with a rolling 1km stretch to be reduced to one lane at all times."

Meanwhile, supporters unable to find room on the official club car park are asked to park on the ground side of the A6034 only and not too close to the nearby bridge.

A spokesman for the West Yorkshire club said: "This is not a club directive but during our junior 6-side competition, the police were booking people on the grounds that they were causing an obstruction near the bridge or parking illegally on the footpath!

"If you pass the ground, take the first right into Belton Road.. There is lots of parking space there.

"If you do get a spot in the car park please leave enough space for an ambulance to get through. Thanks, Silsden AFC."

Cleaning crew take a well-earned break

With our first team now beginning a run of away games, our next scheduled clubhouse clean isn't until Monday, September 29th from 10am. Particular thanks in the meantime go to Trust members Brian Ratcliffe and Arthur Thompson for their continued help with restoring the dressing rooms to their sparkling best after matches. New volunteers are always welcome.

We always need helpers too on match days before games to help out with sweeping paths, brushing up leaves and generally tidying up. If anyone can give up their time you are more than welcome to come along and help on Saturdays from 11am and on Tuesday nights from 5pm. Thank you.
