Runcorn Linnets are thrilled to announce the signing of reigning Pitching In Northern Premier League West Player of the Year Sean Miller.
Sean had an outstanding 2024-25 season as a title winner in our division with Widnes, emhancing the strong reputation he has built as a playmaker and matchwinmer of experience further up the non-league pyramid.
The player had been all set to continue at the DCBL Stadium club until news broke that having in April won promotion to NPL Premier Division as champions, Widnes had withdrawn their men's first team from all competitions and resigned from the league.
This meant that Sean's agreement with the club was terminated and in the hours which followed Sunday's announcement, he had unsurprisingly attracted much interest from other clubs, including offers from the divisions above.
We are, therefore, highly delighted that he has placed his trust in Runcorn Linnets as he looks to continue his successful career by joining our already strong squad.
The 30-year-old midfield schemer last season scored 13 goals in 38 games, taking his overall total to 18 in 64 appearances since joining Widnes in the autumn of 2022.
Sean's stellar performances earned him club prizes as 24-25 Players’ Player of the Year and Committee Player of the Season.
His achievements were crowned by the West Division's blue riband award.
It came as a surprise to Sean, who had travelled to the League Presentations in Blackpool on the pretext of picking up the title trophy on behalf of the club.
A naturally-gifted and creative player, who is renowned for scoring spectacular goals, he first came to prominence as a right winger but these days plies his trade centrally.
Sean is now a double NPL champion, having in 2017-18 helped Altrincham to promotion from the league's Premier Division.
He experienced the National League scene in spells with the Robins, Chester and Curzon Ashton.
Sean had two spells at Chester, who he initially served at Under-18s level before being handed a first-team contract in 2013.
He would return to Deva Stadium in 2018.
Sean's other former clubs include Warrington Town and Connah's Quay Nomads with whom he was Welsh Premier League Young Player of the Season in 2015.
Linnets manager Brad Cooke said:
"Delighted with the signing of Sean. He was the most sought after midfielder in the North West when the sad news about Widnes broke.
"To get a signing of his calibre really shows our ambitions as a club. He is a goal scorer but he creates so many goals too.
"A real threat to the opposition with a great work ethic. We can’t wait to see what Sean can do at the APEC."
Sean Miller had the following message when signjng in at Runcorn Linnets:
"Really happy to get this sorted with Brad and the lads. Looking forward to the season ahead with hopefully another push for a league title🔰"
