The club is now able to confirm that Adam Moseley has left Runcorn Linnets after formally completing his long-anticipated move to Wigan Athletic.

Adam has made history as the first Linnets first-team player to transfer to an EFL club.

He joins the League One outfit after an extended trial and signing a pre-contract agreement.

Striker Adam, 20, has been a trailblazer at Linnets with his progression through the ranks at his hometown club - from our Juniors through the youth system and into the senior ranks.

He starred for Runcorn Linnets in the ESPFA Academy and with our Under 21s.

After breaking into the NPL West side, with a debut in August 2022, Adam has gone on to complete 96 appearances, including 46 starts, with 20 goals.

He reached the pinnacle in last season's Cheshire Senior Cup final with a match- winning hat-trick as we defeated Stalybridge Celtic 3-0 to lift the trophy for the first time.

Adam featured four more times at the start of 2025-26 before getting his chance to shine at Wigan.

His final Linnets appearance was in the Emirates FA Cup tie at Whitchurch Alport on Saturday, August 16th and his last goal in the league opener at Atherton Collieries seven days earlier.

The club has agreed a financial settlement with the Latics for Adam's signature.

Peter Cartledge, chairman of Runcorn Linnets, said:

"This is a very proud moment for the club to see 'one of our own' fulfil his potential and secure a move into full-time professional football.

"Adam is, and always has been, a great ambassador for Linnets.

"We wish him every success in his future career and will, of course, keep a close watch on Adam's progress at Wigan Athletic."

In a farewell message, Adam said:

"From being in the Shed End following the Linnets home and away to being part of the team for the last three seasons (it) has been an absolute privilege. Runcorn Linnets is a special place with special people.

"I want to thank the fans for their incredible support, both at home and away, it truly makes a difference and never goes unnoticed.

"A huge thank you to all the staff, players, and volunteers as well. Your belief and support have meant the world to me. It’s been an unforgettable journey, and I’ve cherished every moment.

"I’ve learned a lot, made memories I’ll always carry with me, and been proud to play for this club from minute 1.

"Thank you for everything. I wish the club every success in the future and will always be looking out for the results. Runcorn Linnets will always hold a special place in my heart.

All the best

Mose

Adam is a second-generation Linnet - dad Mike having represented Runcorn AFC as a striker at youth and senior levels.

The family connection will now be maintained by Mike's nephew and Adam's cousin Lewis Crane.

Lew has established himself in the first team this season and remains an important part of our Under 21s side.

Meanwhile, former Linnets player Mike Garrity has been appointed first-team coach at Wigan.

He was a midfield player in Runcorn FC Halton days.
